May 2005, and Worcester Green Party fielded a
'full-slate' of ten candidates in Worcester City.
More than 10,000 people voted Green in the County
Council elections across Worcestershire, the biggest
vote the Party has seen in the county. Worcester
Green Party saw their vote rise by more than 60% on
their score in the European elections the previous
year. They polled 3,318 votes (7.1%). In Rainbow

votes (17.5%), and Alex Gwinn got 550 (13.5%) in

largest number of candidates ever, a 'full-slate' of
twelve in the elections to Worcester City Council.
The Green vote jumped from 7.1% to 11.5% across the
City, and the Green Party was only 303 votes from
replacing the Liberal Democrats as the third Party
in Worcester. In Rainbow Hill, James Roberts' scored
31.38% of the vote and came second, beating the
Conservative candidate into third place. Other
notable Green results were from Clive Matthews,
20.5% in St.John ward, and from Kate Wildish, 18% in
Warndon.
In
2007, the Greens again contested all City Council
seats, and in May 2008, they contested ten of the
twelve seats at the City Council elections - they
did not contest St. John or Warndon wards - dropping
to 8.5% of the vote.
